LAS CRUCES - Amy Smith is teaching English-style equitation classes and serving as a hunt-seat coach for New Mexico State University's equestrian team.
Smith teaches two beginning classes, an intermediate course and an advanced course as an instructor with Animal and Range Sciences. She has been working with horses since childhood and competed in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association as a college rider in Massachusetts.
In addition to her teaching and coaching responsibilities, Smith will help organize an NMSU-hosted, hunt-seat competition Feb. 1-2 in Las Cruces.
Smith holds a bachelor's degree in biology and English from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. She is pursuing a master of fine arts degree in creative writing at NMSU.
