Suggested Anchor IntroductionYou don't have to be a gourmet cook to create gifts from your kitchen with an Extension booklet featuring easy-to-follow recipes. New Mexico State University's Anna María Pérez-Wright explains. StoryGifts you create yourself may be the ones most appreciated by those closest to you. Lincoln County home economist Marsha Palmer with New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service says most people only need a little inspiration to create holiday gifts from the kitchen. She's put together a recipe booklet of mixes for anyone looking for a special occasion gift. "I combined items that you'll probably already have in your kitchen. You just need to go out and purchase some quart canning jars or any type of jar that will hold four cups. Some of the mixes in the cookbook are cocoa mixes. There's a cappuccino mix. There's also brownies. There's a delicious nine-bean soup for the crock pot. It's a delicious warm-up for the cold, chilly nights." Palmer says even children can follow the simple instructions in the recipe booklet. For a copy of the free booklet, call Palmer at (505) 648-2311.
