Many people complain they don't have a personal life because they work too much. Family specialist Connie Kratzer with New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service says balancing work time with personal time requires making a plan.

"Identify what it is that you want to accomplish. What is it that you would do if you had more time? The second step is to determine what it would take to accomplish these things. And then the third thing, this might be the hardest part, is to set aside time to take these steps."

Kratzer says write down your goals and schedule personal time in your daily planner as you would any other appointment. Then, she says, don't miss the appointment. For N-M-S-U's College of Agriculture and Home Economics, I'm Anna María Pérez-Wright.
