Teachers, counselors and others who work with adolescents can participate in a two-part satellite conference about healthy teen development the afternoons of October 17th and 24th. Child and Family Life Specialist Diana DelCampo with New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service says national researchers and specialists in adolescent development will present the program.

"This satellite conference series is going to deal with healthy teen development, how teens make decisions, what influences their sexual development and the important role that parents, family and communities play in their lives."

The satellite conference will be downlinked in six communities across the state: Las Cruces, Las Vegas, Los Lunas, Santa Fe, Taos and Tucumcari. DelCampo says this will give more people the opportunity to participate.

"We suggest that counselors or psychologists, Extension staff teachers, volunteer leaders, staff serving teens in nonprofit agencies or even families and future professionals, like people who are training to be teachers, may be interested in this satellite conference."

The conference runs from 2:30 until 5 both days. For information on specific site locations or to participate in the free conference October 17th and 24th, call DelCampo at (505) 646-6031. For N-M-S-U's College of Agriculture and Home Economics, I'm Anna María Pérez-Wright.
