Symposium on River Terrace and Floodplain Hydrology

Connecting surface water and ground water along the Rio Grande and other large rivers

Hotel Encanto
Las Cruces, New Mexico
February 28 & March 1, 2007

There is increasing recognition that quantity and quality of flow in large rivers of water scarce regions are linked to river valley management through surface water and groundwater connections.

Of particular interest are situations where surface water moves underground and subsequently returns to the river. This symposium will provide attendees with a dynamic forum for speakers and poster contributors to address the state of the science in floodplain and river terrace hydrology. The symposium will evaluate implications of existing research and chart future directions for needed work, as well as provide a better understanding of river valley hydrology and related management strategies.
